How We Judge Contests

How We Judge Contests

Sometimes contest rules are stated explicitly in the contest. If that’s the case, then those are the rules for that contest. Here is a good example.

If not, then following guidelines govern how we select winners.

First, we narrow down the candidates to those with the most fun and creative answers to our questions.

Then we take a look at whether the user is active on our site or not. Active on the site means you frequently review restaurants, leave comments on blog posts, add events, add listings, click “I Like It” for your favorite events, and click “Did You Find This Review Useful” on comments. We favor people who are active on the site.

Finally we look at whether you have won contests before. When all things are equal, we try to spread the wealth!

After we decide on a winner we announce it publicly on the contest page and then contact you via the email associated with your user account. If you ever want to receive your prize, keep your user account tagged to the email you use the most!

MISCONCEPTION

The highest vote getter doesn’t automatically win, though we definitely look at top vote getters in stage 1.

MISCONCEPTION

The more you write, your chances are not necessarily better. We definitely do appreciate the time you put it in to write a book, but brevity is the soul of wit.

TRUTH

You make us laugh and you have a better chance. That’s pretty true. We need more laughs every day.
