For a place with is pretenting for good quality food, the product are bad quality, like most of the western place in beijing!! I'm sorry... but i really didn't like it, it is of course my personnal and only my personnal point of view. I think there is much more good place to go for a beautifull dinner ;)

I love being able to eat smth small and simple at a bar from time to time and Scarlett has a menu that also offers quick but original bites. To my surprise I saw a new element to their menu : Steak Tartare. And guess what ? Cut by hand !!! Sorry Brasserie Flo but this Tartare is the best one I had in Beijing. Hand-cut tartare is just the way it should be. Next time I'll have it I'll ask the kitchen to chop the veggies a little smaller and we'll reach perfection ! :-) On the other side I think the service speed could still be improved, especially the order processes from waiter to barmen/kitchen, I often have to ask twice for small orders to come quicker.

Underrated French food in Beijing. Seriously. Had a heaping appetizer platter of cold cuts and cheese last night. Everything was perfect, and the mini pickles were amazing. Followed that with the sea bass. Very very good and not too expensive (RMB120 I think). It comes with a heaping compote of tomato plus a nice risotto. Finished the meal with a banana split, though my dining companion's poached pear was definitely a bit better. I don't think Scarlette gets enough credit for doing up some of the best French food in the city.

Went for Tapas Night, some of them tapas were very good, especially the Cold ones like the eggplant caviar, the feta salad, the vegetables, and sushi vegetables and good tangy gaspacho soup. the mexican tacos and the fried octopus and shrimp were also good. the meatballs were great, and they had good wine. the cocktails were overly pricey though at 58 rmb.

I'm having a good moments each time I'm going there; food is good, selection of wines also, staff is efficient and cherry on the top of the cake : the manager Alex, who is always taking care of his guests and make sure that everything is going well.
Thanks to Hotel G and Scarlett, keep going and see you soon for sure.

We did an office happy hour event here last Friday and had a great time. Condsidering the much better than average ambience, the drink prices are a bargain and the tapas good value for money as well. Service was good too.

Fantastic place, I love the Brie and Parma ham platter (¥48), their great selection of cheese (they have French Epoisses !!) and the large combo of Cold Cuts (¥68). Their wine selection is huge and they have nice bottle starting @ ¥188 with acceptable wines around ¥250...

I love this place.
Recently my family visited me in Beijing and after an incredibly difficult introduction to city, I took my exhausted parents here and we were all blown away by how good the food, service and cost were.
We were warmly welcomed by the staff and we were smiling from ear to ear after every interaction. One of the managers had us continuously in stitches and the other provided such a warm and attentive manner that we felt instantly at ease and very welcome.
The waitstaff were great too- lots of smiling, attentive and great English. Although, one of our waiters provided us with a laugh too when our request to pass on our "compliments to the chef" got misinterpreted and the lovely French chef kindly came to our table and asked us about our "complaints to the chef"! But no complaints here- the food was delicious. And fine for vegetarians too- the chef was very creative (you can make vegetarian requests with no fuss) and all of us thought that our food was just luscious!
The wine choice was terrific too, which sat really well next to an amazing array of cheese and tapas. A terrific respite for the homesick tummy.
The final winning point for this place has to be its affordability. Whilst not on par with the local BJ restaurant down the hutong, for such high quality expat cuisine and wine (loved the SB!) it is unbeatable value for money.
The only down point is that the first time you go here, you will probably get a bit lost unless you know the area- just keep an eye out for the multicoloured windows on the hotel (Hotel G) and Scarlett is just inside.
I highly highly recommend eating, drinking and relaxing at Scarlett and look forward to spending more time there... mmm just writing this review has made me hungry!!

Great place! The staff is very welcoming, the food is good, plus they make great promotions with pasta and tapas! The cheese selection is absolutely overwhelming, and it feels good to have a nice glass of wine without having to buy the whole bottle. Great atmosphere too! Will definitely go back!

This place seemed to be suffering from an identity crisis. Unsure if it wants to be an eatery, a wine bar or tapas joint. The staff tried hard but alas seemed to have little knowledge of the what was available. I discovered the wine list by chance and had no idea there was a cheese selection.
On the plus side there was a killer happy hour with RMB25 house wines and spirits. The tapas was fairly decent and we liked the idea of pricing by the number of dishes ordered rather than individual prices for each tapas.

Scarlett wine bar & restaurant opens its doors on the 8th of April 2009 in Beijing. The venue offers various wines at a reasonable price and goes back to basics in terms of cuisine by offering a wide rage of simple food with taste and quality for the right price!
Scarlett is definitely poised to be the latest meeting point for young executives who like to have fun and chill-out.
More than 80 different wine labels, combined with one of Beijing’s largest cheese selections and cold cuts, daily specials, tapas and legendary burgers all available on a stylish European-style menu.

[HTML_REMOVED]French Direction [HTML_REMOVED]
[HTML_REMOVED]
The sounds of live French accordion music met us as we walked into Scarlett to try the new summer menu. The atmospheric, enjoyable music is only offered every Tuesday, but it pairs perfectly with the French direction that the food offerings have also taken.
[HTML_REMOVED] The menu is the most appealing, and probably the most French, we’ve seen at Scarlett. If you’re only going to order one thing, it should be the beef tartar (¥128). The very fresh meat is chopped by hand, and mixed with onion, pickles, Worcestershire sauce and capers for a mustardy, refreshing taste. The goat cheese salad (¥68), one of the new salads on offer, comes with delicious goat cheese toasts, sweet and savory caramelized onions, great bacon, tangy apple, lettuce and a unique shallot dressing. The French onion soup (¥48) is some of the city’s best, with a beef-based broth and a large, cheese-covered toast. The bouillabaisse (¥78), a soup from Marseilles, packs a generous mix of seafood and a richly flavored broth. Seafood also features prominently in the main courses, with a good range of fish dishes. The sea bass (¥118) is a large portion of fish atop a fennel ragout and herb risotto. The risotto is good but not exceptional, and the combination of tomato and fennel creates a tang that verges on metallic. But the fish is good, and the white wine butter sauce it comes with is excellent, a real culinary treat when eaten together with the streaks of pesto that garnish the plate.
[HTML_REMOVED] Desserts (¥58 each) are pretty standard. We tried the parfait—basically a cloud of frozen whipping cream in a delicious orange soup. It’s a little like a melted-creamsicle, but in a good way, and it’s perfect for summer evenings.
