The Shangri-La's Kerry Centre Hotel's all-day dining restaurant offers an excellent international buffet at breakfast and dinner, and an à la carte menu focusing on Asian cuisine for dinner. We highly recommend the chicken wings and the laksa.

[HTML_REMOVED]A Unique Feast[HTML_REMOVED]

It’s hard to remember what the Kerry Centre Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant looked like before the complete renovation that’s transformed it into Kerry’s Kitchen. The space is beautiful, and the food—buffet during the day, à la carte at night—offers something unique for hotel dining.

[HTML_REMOVED] The buffet (¥228 plus surcharge at lunch) offers food we’ve never seen before at this sort of restaurant. For example, there’s a whole counter dedicated to tofu, with some really delicious dishes from around Asia. The salad bar also boasts very tasty sliced turkey breast, a rarity in Beijing. The number one thing you can’t miss at this buffet, though, is the chicken wings. They’re huge, with the most amazingly crisp skin we’ve ever tasted.

[HTML_REMOVED] The à la carte menu’s not shabby, either. The L.A. cut Korean short beef ribs (¥128) are Iki quality, although much more expensive. We’ve been dreaming about the laksa (¥78) here non-stop since eating it. The tofu is perfect, the broth spicy and delicious, and the bean sprouts, noodles and other ingredients all solid. While the focus here is on Asian dishes, the Western offerings also impress. The ridiculously cheesy French onion soup (¥58) beats out the renditions we’ve had of this dish at our favorite French restaurants.

[HTML_REMOVED] The buffet is the better choice for dessert lovers than the à la carte menu—you’ll want seconds on the crisp praline cake. But we were a little disappointed with the durian panna cotta (¥38), which is more of a pudding than anything resembling panna cotta. For durian desserts, we much prefer Horizon.

[HTML_REMOVED] The ambiance here is very relaxing, with lots of natural tones and elements. Service isn’t quite perfect, but still very diligent.

The buffet dinner at Kerry's Kitchen was a memorable experience of international dining not easily found around this town. The ambience of the place is lovely - sophisticated, but not overwhelming, and the service is excellent. The tofu counter was something to behold, as was the Wagyu beef, oysters and salmon (all imported) on offer. The dessert stand was nothing short of impressive, and the wine available was also lovely.
