This airy, three-story Lijiang-themed restaurant in Sanlitun offers excellent food, Yunnanese ethnic minority waitstaff, fresh ingredients shipped in from the region and low prices. It's busy every night with locals and foreign diners. Don't miss the fragrant Huzhong black mushrooms or the Lijiang black bean jelly.

Nice decor with many plants. Waiters costumes are cool, the ambiance is plesant. The food list is not large for a chinese restaurant, two dishes we wanted were not available. Food was good and some was really good. But after we finished dishes, we were still waiting our rice with chicken..more than 40 min... it's just a shame! I would like to give 4 or 5 stars, but with the rice....

This place is certainly pretty. Nice, airy, fresh decor. The tables next to the glass windows seem like the best tables. Had to wait for 15-20 minutes to be seated, so I thought with the crowd and buzz on CW, this place must have really good food. We ordered Sauteed Leek with Tofu Skin, Beef Curry, Chicken with Lemon Grass, Peas with Pu Er Tea. Only the last two dishes I really liked. The other two were okay if not bland. We also ordered their specialty Yunnan rice that comes in a bowl. A little bit like porridge, but with some chopped red chillies on top of it. Great if you like spicy porridge. Their lemon mint beverage is absolutely wonderful, perfect for summer. Service is friendly, but we had to wait for a while for the food to arrive. Not to mention, twice the waiter had to come to tell us the dishes we ordered are not available so we had to wait even longer. Will I come back? Yes. There seems to be more delicious dishes in the menu. Next time I'll make sure I book the table one or two days in advance.

I do sincerely hope the management of In & Out could change their service attitude and level. I have posted this review to highlight to them that they need to do something about "not lying" to customers in order to bring in business.
To be fair the food was good (3.5 stars). However all that I can remember is the horrible experience I got.

I took my friends to In & Out yesterday for Yunnanese food, but I was only impressed with one of the 8 dishes we had ordered. We ordered a few of the recommended dishes by the restaurant such as the 香茅草烤罗非鱼(my friend loved it), the 菠萝饭(it wasn't sweet enough and it felt undercooked, it needed a little bit more of time), another dish that resembled sweet and sour chicken with fresh mango, deep friend potato balls, the Jingpo guiji (which I loved - shredded chicken with lemmon, cilantro and other yunnanese spices - it reminded me a lot of south american food), and a few other that I don't remember the names to. I give it 3 stars since I had been expecting the food to be better, as online reviewers in various sites had scored the restaurant quite favorably and with my past experience with 'No Name' restaurant in Houhai and Golden Peacock in Weigongcun had quite raised the bar. For Yunnanese food lovers, 'No Name' and 'Golden Peacock' have very tasty food, although the former has a lovely 2nd floor with a tropical rustic feel - it's quite lovely (but the restaurant is really hard to find).

I pass this restaurant daily and it's always full. Service is slllooooow, but the food comes up tops and the interior is nice and cosy with a touch of Yunnan. The fish with leek flowers come nicely grilled and rests on a bed of silky tofu.

I was seriously impressed with my first visit here and wish I'd discovered it sooner. The tofu is all made in a province of Yunnan that specializes in bean curd, and it's great. The liangban tofu is excellent, and the braised bean curd with black bean paste tastes a lot like cheese. My favorite dish was the five colored Huzhong black mushrooms, served with bell peppers and bean sprouts. It smelled amazing and tasted even better. The Lijiang black bean jelly doesn't sound so great, but it IS! Great texture and a lovely spicy-sour taste. A really solid place for vegetarians (although there are tons of meat options on the menu). It's expanded to all three floors of the building, and it was still packed. Highly, highly recommended.

This nice restaurants stands out thanks to its great & tasty food, very reasonable pricing and quite nice service. Although I prefered the old location because it was a lot cosier, at least at the new one you don't have to wait so long for a seat. It can get quite crowded for lunch and dinner, because it's great value for money.

Yum! The most delicious Yunnananese meal I've had in Beijing was served here. Every dish is stellar, and the Yunnanese rice spirits are awesome. The spicy tilapia tastes like Grandmom's southern, pepper fried catfish. The decor is a little lacking (what's up with the English-language newspapers that wallpaper the ceiling?), but the excellent service and brilliant cuisine more than makes up for it.

This place is great! If you sit on the right side of the restaurant and look out the windows on the opposite side it feels like you are in Yunnan. The food is good and the rice wine is sweet and delicious. The location is also nice--surrounded by several nice restaurants and bars.

The Chinglish sign on the entrance to this unfortunately named restaurant speaks for itself, although I'm not quite sure what exactly it's saying. If you're not deterred by the awkward signage, or if you made the mistake of inviting a date here and can't turn back, you'll be greeted at the entrance by a pile of colorful Naxi minority trinkets, and will soon find yourself wondering whether you haven't been led into some kind of a trap. But never fear, the gaudily dressed fuwuyuan are not there to sell you worthless trinkets, only serve you overpriced food. Slowly.
Despite the mediocre food, poor lighting and uncomfortable seating, your disappointing date may yet be saved by the mijiu (sweet rice wine), which is served in pleasingly large tubes of bamboo. But if you don't like your mijiu cold, you are out of luck, as you will be hard pressed to get them to warm it for you.

The food here is decent. I would go again, but it wasn't the best place I've been. I've was rushed into ordering because the kitchen was closing so I didn't really have time to decide what to order.

Confusing. Really good food. Cucumber flowers, Yunnan cheese for example. Decor is also very nice. But the service... Or the lack of it. Like the fuwuyuans just had eaten sleeping pills or something. Although service was quite terrible, I want to go again for the delicious food!
