The well-connected ownership draws in a hipper Chinese crowd, but doesn't stray too far from the tried and true. With two separate rooms and dance floors, Vics is one of the largest and most impressive clubs in the capital.

like a very big student union but with expensive drinks, obnoxious staff, irritating rich rus**** kids, the dregs of the worst of hip-hop, and 1000 kuai girls.
If your under 25 it's perfect.

Vics is one of those clubs where all the foreigners from bejing flock to. Its packed with tourists, underaged students from the local international schools, rich old local chinese men and weird old western men and expats who think they run the city. Its definetly an old person's party place and dont expect to meet sexy hotties (men/women) in their 20s. I would say the average persons age in vics is like...105, literally.
The worst part about the club is definetly the music and u really know that a club sux/can't be helped if the music is, for real, whack. I stayed there the whole night with my chicas and for about 3/4 of the time the dj played rap music. And the worst part is, it wasnt even your typical/mainstream "throw some d's on them hoes" rap it was more like the intense underground shizz that not many people know. And ok dj, i get that u might think its kool to show off ur gangsta music vocabulary but i'm afraid its not the type of music people dance to. What happened to electronic? Techno? Pop? Umm helloO, lady gaga and ke$ha have some of the most danceable beats i've ever heard!!! And he ddnt even play basic daft punk. In general, i think the determining factor for how good a club is is definetly the music. In vics i met neither mr. Saxobeat nor did i become stereo-loved.
But in terms of the service, drinks, club space and atmosphere i will give it a 3 star (-1 for all the sketchy indian/middle eastern men that were consistantly hovering besides my minions and i)

I never saw such a kinds of recist club like vics.They never tell to any one directly but in shortly they don't want any Africans to be there.If the entrance is free for those western people the club will charge for Africans 50 RMB and if its friday and saturday they will charge for western 50 RMB but its 150 RMB for Africans black.I don't know why thos African brothers go there all the time.I have been there twise but the club is full of African blacks.Its so funny

This is the typical place for tourists in Beijing. I have been there 4-5 times, always dragged in by drunk people and gone out after 10 minutes.. I don't like the design, the music and most of all the service. But everyone is free to judge for that. Except for last Saturday when I was invited to join some friends who had a vip table inside. I had with me my father's vintage photo camera, negative film inside, fully manual, no battery no flash....and the so called security girl would not let me in with it. She wanted me to put it in the cloakroom which is out of the question for me. You see these people have business contract with club photographers to avoid competition and they are not allowed to let people in with camera... so this very clever girl did not want me to get in with my manual vintage camera which could not take any photo because no flash... in the same time I could get in with my nokia N8 and it's 12MB pixels and Xenon flash and take as many pictures as I wanted...
This shows how this place is being managed...just orders, no thinking and because of that, no customer service, like any big Chinese tourist attraction :-)

There can be good music sometimes depending on whos the DJ.Thats what we do, check out who is the DJ, whats the crowd, have a beer, if it works stay here for the rest of the evening. Else check out and try other places before settling down somewhere for real fun.

They have a big dance floor and one could find the crowd quite a mix of expats and locals. Its fine for young people but for mature people doesnt work.

Just good for looking at the crowd. But as the crowd swells and the bouncers get in to manage the crowd I fear something wrong would happen ! and get out before its too late.

The DJ in Vics is no kidding, and I mean NO KIDDING! Despite the crowds somehow are rude. Drinks, snack, coach all ok, but the DJ, WoW, worth coming back just for the DJ.

A solid club. Two large dance areas with better than average music (do recall hearing California Girls more than once, however...) ranging from international to house to hip hop. The bartenders are good-I didn't have to hover awkwardly waiting to get their attention even on a packed Saturday night whenever I found myself fiending for tequila shots. overall- fun place to shake one's booty and have a good old time

i love Vics! talk about a Beijing institution. i was there on opening night 10 years ago and it's gone through some changes, but for the better. Vics still kicks ass and takes no prisoners. who else in Beijing brings you the likes of Mobb Deep, Saigon, Royce da 5'9" and next weekend Fat Joe!!! true to the game.

YASSA what a critic you are .. but rightfully so. When you look at what VICS offers and to whom it is aimed you can't argue with people that give the place 5 stars cause they really love it. Others just dont get it. VICS like their slogans says forever yours, forever mine, forever ours is true for whom the cap fits. Haters will always hate you at the end of the day who can argue with 10 years of some of the greatness parties Beijing has every seen.

These fake critics awarding 5 stars and glowing reviews to the club they clearly represent should be shot. Come on guys, every popular club is gonna get good and bad reviews and we all know the bad comes from people who have some kind of a grudge. The public at large (ie. the people who read this website) is able to recognise this, so please stop trying to compensate and be realistic. Lecture over... now go back to running your club and be brave enough to accept whatever criticism is aimed at you. My rating for Vics remains at 3 stars and me previous comments also remain.

Been here.Too smoky and the crowd gets unruly. Unless you have few boys or men in your group, avoid this place. The place is good though if you have a good group,though the drinks arent cheap. Good dance place.

The crowd on weekends is one of the draw. The drinks are fine. Music is one of the important things and Vics has good music.

good club. Expensive on the alcohol. 7.50USD for a shot of grey goose. Was fun, but i really couldnt see who i was dancing with, i was hoping it was someone attractive but i couldnt tell. Went to all the clubs and this was the best one for my age. 17-30

I have to say. I am never excited about going there, but it's a great back up plan. Music, although nothing special is at least dependably fun. The staff has been nothing but nice to me, so I am always surprised to hear so many bad comments about them (and not just on here, either...). The drinks are great value, I find. BIG glass, proper mix with good alcohol for 30 RMB is something you actually DON'T find everywhere. I think yassa hit the nail on the head. It's not for everyone, but it works...

Vics is certainly good at what it does, evident by the fact it is packed 7 nights per week. Nothing cool about the place, but then I don't think they are aiming to be cool... nothing creative about the music either, it's commercial and predictable, but then that's what their crowd seems to like. Add to that, fair pricing and rapid service and you have all the ingredients for a successful business.

I think VICS is a good place, they made so much interesting students party and that's the only club we can hear the House music and Hip-hop music togeter.
I think in your mind, no place is good, Vics,Starbucks > Jianwai SOHO Store, Apple Store , Maggie', The Bookworm ,Hard Rock Café , Aperitivo...every where is not good.
so which place is good enough for you ? may be just your home or not.

I like this club. I am not sure if my experience was good because they had performers that night (Royce 5'9") but I had a great time. I'll have to come back again and see how it is without a performer and just a DJ. I think I might have over-dressed compared to the rest of the girls. Jeans and a black top with a brown and white-spotted collar seemed to be work clothes compared to the tank tops of the other girls. Ah well, I made up for it by dancing on the stage for the most part ;). A five stars for this experience. (though there definitely could be less smoking....)

Everytime I go to Vics I have an amazing time. You can really lose track of time. Dancing for 4 hours only really feels like 1.
My negatives are too much regatone and its a little on the expensive side. Only half of my friends can afford it. :(

2 decent sized rooms: one with electronic, the other with hip-hop. 30 rmb for a 12oz. tsingtao is a lot for being outside houhai.

vix is a greaaat time! i see lots of girls there, yes lots of guys too, but chinese girls and western girls, HOT!!!
Music is so good, I went there once and came out and it was MORNING!
I like this place much more than Mix, and i paid no cover!

Just came back from vicks. A meat shopping experience indeed. You will see how the post80 and post90 girls dance wild. Great music but small dance floor. I guess that is how you chip in to all the actions. Way too many guys show up on the "lady's night" a typical problem created by the single child policy.

I think VICS is an awesome place with a good audience. Perfect mix of Chinese and western people. Especially DJ Jeffra and Ricky J are making the crowd crazy. Does anybody know more information about them?

Can't say I'm a fan. Everytime I've been I just think it's over crowded with Beijing's foreign teenage crowd and the people who wish they could hang out with them. There is better house music elsewhere and I far prefer MIX when it comes to hiphop though admitedly I don't go there very often either. I must agree with xigor, both places have bouncers who are completely out of control.

In the past 6 years, there has been quite a few stories of customers being beaten by Vics security staff to recommend this place. Just be aware and never get close to people fighting or you might well be taken and beaten by the security even if you are just standing nearby.
Music is deafening as in any mainland China disco, but they have good DJs who know how to make the crowd move.

Vics is a stright forward and standard mega-club. The price is moderate to high, and its interior is mostly ok, with the exception of FAR to small dancefloors given the amount of people at this place. The club is divided in two, with a large RnB scene and a much smaller house room. The house room suffers greatly from a diminutive dancefloor, which makes it overcrowded with only...6-7 people on the floor. The RnB room is large, but still to small for the vast amount of people who frequent Vics.
Looking at the music, this is a typical RnB club, with a tiny dancefloor for commercial house. Unfortunately the house DJs were horrible when I was there. The RnB DJs played fair enough, although I never heard anything out of the ordinary (umberella and all that jazz).
Another remark I have to make is that the music is far to high at Vics, although earplugs should be mandatory for any serious clubber.
Even though I have not said to much positive about vics, it could still be a whole lot worse, and for me it ranks as a clear 3-star standard club.

Maybe a little pricey for some, but definitely worth it for a great time. I love dancing to hip hop and it's difficult to find a club in beijing that isn't playing some euro-electric or techno thing so thankfully there's Vic's! I love the size of this place too - perfect for a huge dance party! If you feel claustrophobic on the dance floor, then get a table. Either way, this is definitely a DANCE CLUB so of course the music is going to be LOUD, if you think it's "deafening" (comment above) then maybe you should switch to a lounge type atmosphere.
Also, I think the crowd at Vic's is much better than neighboring Mix.

I went to Vics during my first 2 weeks in Beijing, and was completely uninterested in the deafening hip hop, meat market culture, and mean locals that pushed people around. I heard that the establishment is run by some shady people, and coming back over 2 years later, I was not disappointed. Upon handing over a 120 RMB to pay for drinks, my 100 RMB bill was switched for a 10 RMB bill, and I was told that i owed the difference. After much protesting, I had no choice to by be ripped off and pay, because I had heard about how the bouncers there handle customers and I feared receiving the same treatment. As a 33 year old who's living in beijing for 2.5 years I can't recommend this place. If you are 22 and searching for miniskirts, you may find your place here.

Oh I see how it goes now. Let me guess, Vic's is a big client, pouring thousands of RMB into the magazine, so my comment about how disappointing it is gets pulled without a word. Hilarious. HILARIOUS, City Weekend. I'll remember that. I'll remember that NEGATIVE COMMENTS should be kept to one's self. Only positive sentiments whould be allowed to afflorate our atmosphere. Wow. Suck.

One of good choices for a mixed crowd and also not so expensive place. Its located in a central place so thats another plus. Its big so the crowd gets big and thats what I like about people being around when you are entertaining . drinks are fine too .
