13FACTORIES takes its name from the area of the same name （十三行）in the old town of Guangzhou. This area is where the first foreign trade was allowed during the Qing dynasty, a unique place where people from America, Europe, and other places came to interact and trade with Chinese people. Today, the Thirteen Factories Restaurant aims to create a place in the spirit of the original, where foreigners and locals alike can share delicious food and drinks in a comfortable, modern atmosphere.
Here at 13FACTORIES our objective is simple, to bring you food that is good and authentic. We do it by using the freshest local ingredients wherever possible. We make our own bread and pie crusts. We don’t use MSG. Pretty much everything on the menu is homemade. That’s why our food tastes like home, no matter where your home is.
We're conveniently located in the Tianhe CBD, close to the Linhe Xi and Tiyu Xi metro stops.

The constant search for Western food continues for many of my friends and I. We have a few favorites. But just like most good things you want more. So as we sit chatting on the phone wasting our China mobile minutes, trying to find something new, one of us suggests 13Factories. 13Factories? Odd name for sure. Ok we say... and were off. Hidden not too far from The Citic Building and a 15 minute walk from the closest metro stop we find 13Factories. A small quaint place. Inside and outside seating. Why the place is not packed I don't know? As you read on you will understand my query. After perusing the menu for a bit I noticed that there was not a single Chinese dish on the menu. Odd. Most western places do. The Menu is written with perfect English. We as English teachers have a tendency to look for such things. The wait staff was fast to give us ice cold water and then give us time decide what we wanted.
The menu is clearly Souther USA influenced. Pulled pork sandwiches. Jambalaya, Andouille sausage, Cajun fries, Gumbo, Southern fried Chicken, and much more.
The three of us ordered in total, the Cajun fries that came with a delicious dipping sauce. The mini pulled pork "sliders" and The Calamari. all were fantastic!
Our Dinners consisted of two orders of the Southern Fried Chicken and the Duck Burger. The Chicken was huge. Two golden brown pieces. It came with mashed potatoes and corn. The Duck Burger was tender and juicy. We finished of with desert. I got the Bourbon Crème brûlée ( could have been a big larger) and my two friends shared the Brownies A la Mode.
Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. 3 Appetites, 3 Dinners, 3 sodas and 2 deserts costs us 290RMB
Not that bad for the size of the portions and the quality. I highly recommend this place to all. Check out 13Factories. You should not be disappointed.
