Cast Your Vote for Shanghai's Best Burger

Alright City Weekenders, voting is now open for Shanghai's best burger. We're on the hunt for the city's best, but it's up to you to tell us where that is.

Click here to vote now!

Got some questions about how this whole thing works? We thought you might, so we've answered some of your FAQs below.

How does it work?
We've broken things down March Madness style with a 32-burger bracket. Every week we'll weed out half the competitors until we're left with two finalists. So next week we'll have the Sweet Sixteen competitors, the Elite Eight the week after ... and so on.

When does voting close for round one?
Voting for round one will close on Sunday (Feb. 26) at 6pm. Next Monday we'll publish the voting results and announce who made it through to the next round.

What's in it for you?
We love to give you guys free stuff. Just by voting, you'll go into a lucky draw to win free burgers. All you need to do is leave your email at the end of the survey - we can 100% guarantee that your information will be kept private and not shared with anyone! We'll give you more details about the freebies later this week.

How will we ensure fairness?
We've got a couple of tricks up our sleeves to weed out the spammers. First off, we're running the survey through Survey Monkey and to prevent ballot stuffing the system only allows only one response per computer. Don't even waste your time trying to get around that! When we analyze results, we can see if the same computer has been used multiple times to cast votes. We've also thrown in a mandatory open-ended question at the end of the survey. You've got to leave a legit answer for your vote to count. If we suspect that a restaurant has been cheating, we'll automatically disqualify them and we won't be afraid to name and shame the offenders!

The bracket:
We love Photoshop over here at City Weekend, so got creative and whipped up this bracket to keep track of the competition. Check out a bigger version of it right here.

Who's in the competition?
Last Friday the City Weekend team narrowed it down to 31 places and we asked for you to vote for the final competitor. We're happy to announce that Madison made the final cut. Here is the complete list.

Just took the vote. I must say it's pretty random the way this thing is set up. For instance, Bistro burger is going against Gourmet in the first round? That's like Federer playing Nadal in the first round at Wimbledon. Those places specialize in burgers. Why not put them up against Windows or any other bar? Both of those places deserve to be in the next round. A seeding system is needed to avoid such oversights.

Agree with @hellowatch - Madison vs Goga? Two number one seeds in the first round. For shame.

It makes sense if you remember that no thought at all went into any of this.

Hey guys, there are loads of different styles of burgers around town. So for the first round we matched up restaurants who make similar style burgers. That way the very best of each will get pitted against each other. We thought that this would be the most fair way to do it. The cream will rise to the top at the end of the day. After all, there will only be one winner. We've taken note of your suggestions though; we'll keep them in mind next time we run a competition like this.

Claire, maybe there doesn't have to be a winner because none of them make an 8,000-10,000 calorie burger, which is giving the people what they want.

Hahaha true phill! I see a gap in the market here... Maybe we can get one of the restaurants to recreate the triple bypass burger and the bacon milkshake. Mmmm fatty!

"The cream will rise to the top"

That's a phrase that never fails to make me smile, as it's also the scum that Floats on top as well.

@Phil

I still owe you a going-out-and-getting-stuffed, send me an SMS to let me know when you are free.

@Dave

Yes, obviously.

Hi philipvasels, :) you kinda have to get out more ya know... bacon is the new meat. There's bacon milkshake (Thanks Claire for reminder!), bacon toothpicks (for after vegetarian meals? :)), and for that fresh pre-sleep or post-sleep meat rush, I introduce the...drum roll... bacon toothpaste. I kid you not: http://www.mcphee.com/shop/products/Bacon-Toothpaste.html
