Find Some of Shanghai's Best Fried Noodles at Autumn Dragon

The door to this teeny restaurant is so small we passed it every day for almost two years and never realized it led to a restaurant. But step inside and you’ll find that the food in this two-story spot is a pleasant surprise complete with super friendly staff—they’ll remember your favorite dishes after just one visit. The steamed egg and minced pork (肉糜炖蛋, roumi dundan, RMB14), a simple home-style affair, is the most popular dish here; the light soy sauce based broth really brings out the tenderness of the egg and the succulence of the pork. Another must-try is the fried udon noodles (炒乌东面, chao wudongmian, RMB18). These chunky udon noodles are wok-fried with scrambled eggs, strips of beef fillet and veggies; they’re some of the best fried noodles we’ve had.
