One of China's most famous photojournalists, Li Zhensheng is best known for capturing a plethora of bold, telling images from the Cultural Revolution. Working for the Heilongjiang Daily, he photographed daringly and ingeniously. His obsession with finding the right angle and shooting without fear took him to extremes that put his career at risk. And before panoramic cameras were even available, Li developed a style rife with cinema-inspired panning.

Description -
Li Zhensheng, who was featured in BBC's GENIUS of PHOTOGRAPHY, has photographed the prelude, the development and the ending of the Cultural Revolution. His talent comes from a high sense of history and a resourceful inventiveness: having studied cinema he created panoramics out of splice images he shot through cinematographic panning. There are "winds" and "clouds", grandeur and pettiness, tragedy and comedy, epic and poetry, often also with self-portraits, this exhibition a World Premiere in a gallery, is an attempt to demonstrate his "genius".
