This gallery specializes in contemporary photography (mostly in black and white), showcasing major western and Chinese artists. Beaugeste aims to display meaningful photography for viewers to see and to appreciate photography both mentally and emotionally, and to stimulate curiosity and questions about the world.

Located in the so-called art street Taikang Lu's Tianzifang, inside building number 5...Hard to find but when you find it you will see why this gallery has the reputation of being the finest photography exhibition space. They have consistently excellent contemporary photography shows including Chinese documentary and conceptual photographers and French and Swedish master-class photographers such as Klavdij Sluban and Anders Petersen. Most often visiting international photographers would linger in this tiny space to browse through the collection of photography monographs published by the gallery and young photographers and students would enjoy listening to a presentation by the curator or his assistant on the amazing photographs on the wall. If you are a serious photography collector you will enjoy the privilege of a backroom private show of original prints presented to you with white gloves. Handle with care!

I visit this gallery every month or so. If you are interested in photography and learning about the works of Chinese photographers, there is no better place in town. The exhibits I've seen her such as Dongbeiren and Shage Xiren are just stunning. The staff is kind and knowledgeable, very willing to help you understand the accomplishments of great local photographers.
