Sink your teeth into a swanky steak at this sophisticated joint. The cozy restaurant is lit in all the right places, creating a built-in intimate environment. The top-notch steaks, cooked on a custom slanted grill in the open kitchen, don't hurt the mood, either. A great spot for lovey-dovey meatlovers.

Excellent Service, excellent menu. They dont have serve the traditional steakhouse appetizer like cocktail shrimp or lobster bisque, they have more modern or "gastronomical" take on appetizers and presentatoin. The steaks was superb. Grilled to perfection and priced very well..perhaps 30% less from its competittors serving the same quality. I would highly recommend this, very suitable for a date or business dinner. There wine starts at 320 rmb per bottle which is not bad. I heard this location is better than the Xin Tian Di one. The bread basket needs a slight improvement, but seafood chowder was perfect. It arrived hot (not lukewarm like most restaurants) and the ingredients used are fresh in quality and generous in quanttiy. It's not particularly easy to get a good 'ol steak in China. You pretty much can only find it in fine-dining restaurants.. very very few casual/cheap places have steak, and if they do, you best stay away from it ;) And so we decided to treat ourselves at Moon's Steakhouse.
Moon's Steakhouse is a lovely, luxe restaurant with fantastic service (the manager was a total dream) and beautifully plush sofas to relax on. The menu's fairly limited, but it's not a problem because you're on there for one thing - their steaks!
We appreciated the bread basket at the start, though it would have been great served with a soft herb butter, instead of (or accompanied with) the salsa and yoghurt dips.
we decided to start off with the Seafood Chowder soup and Minestrone soup, which was a very good idea because we had to wait ONE HOUR for our steaks to arrive. It was unbelievable, and had me quite irate. I would have expected the waitress to warn us or at least apologise, but nada. The soups came out really quickly and so left us with a long and prolonged 1 hour wait. Both soups were nice, but nothing spectacular. They, strangely, came out in small cheap-bistro-style cups... not in a large wide bowl or served with some garlic bread. Tres odd, especially since they were not cheap!
So after that 1 hour wait, our steaks finally came. They were just blissful. They're a steakhouse and yep, they do steaks brilliantly. I had the *Prosciutto Wrapped Filet Mignon topped with Bearnaise, which was beautifully charred on the outside and tender on the inside. I loved it :) They are very VERY expensive though, more than what you'd even pay in Australia! We had a 1-for-1 deal, which made it worth it, but otherwise the regular price is pretty painful.
Still, a great (and very filling) dinner and so happy to have had our steak fix!

Just got back from Moon's lunch specials...the Roast Beef sandwich is filling. It's topped with a lot of meat (not sure maybe 150-200g)...I like the venue and decoration. Will definitely have to go back again to try the Steaks.

Agreed. Overall value for money. They have added a few new dishes such as "The Baseball" and "New York, New York" which are also very impressive.

Shanghai's Best Steaks | Best All Around
We visited Moon's on a mission to find the best steak in town--and left feeling liberated from the ghosts of the sub-par steaks we had sawed through that week. Our favorite--the aged, grilled, 12 ounce prime rib--(RMB368) had a luscious, consistently tender, rosebud pink interior and a lip-smacking charbroiled taste. A signature MSG free, 12-spice meat rub added a subtle, one-of-a-kind taste without overpowering the juicy, unadulterated grain-fed beef flavor. The roasted prime rib, although good, could not compare. The Australian Wagyu Kobe-style strip-loin (RMB308), a succulent cut of beef glistening with liquid fat (a good example of Moon's specialty raised grill at work), was fork-tender and almost as perfectly seasoned as the grilled prime rib. Grilled zucchini, squash, and a triplet of cheerful, still-on-the-vine cherry tomatoes helped to create a lovely presentation. After feasting on equally delicious side dishes, and near comatose with contentment, we schlepped back into wintry night just a few minutes before the store's closing. Joanne Yao
