Chile Pavilion
- City Weekend

This country has gone above and beyond protocol in designing a sustainable pavilion. The translucent walls, shaded by steel mesh, are made of recycled glass and held together with bolted steel. The pavements, ceilings and paneling are made of renewable Chilean pinewood. An insulation system composed of recyclable products has been used in all opaque enclosures and the “green” roof is designed to control temperature radiation. Inside, a digital well connects Expo visitors with Chileans in real time. Time to brush up on your Spanish!

Nice looking all wood pavilion. Nothing tech or innovative but calming after all the long lines. The shop had reasonably price interesting things (including wine). The prices at the bar was very reasonable (from 15 rmb - 50rmb??). short lines.

This pavilion gets extra points for hospitality and overall graciousness of hosts, making the experience more than just some ten minute show. Even better, there is a nice wine bar with more than a couple reasonably-priced wines that you can order by the glass. Their snack plate includes an empanada (!) plus wine and other treats. The wait, on a Saturday afternoon, was very brief.

Didn't have to queue at all during my visit, one thing that impressed me about the Chilean Pavilion is their theme and presentation that matches the slogan of this Expo, “Better City, Better Life”. One set piece was a video presentation with narratives about living in the city, but do you have any idea of what goes on around you, do you even know your neighbour? It really makes you ponder on your own very existence in this metropolis, living in your apartment block, and most likely not knowing who your nrighbour is. Though at the end of the visit, the bar and wine shop did bring me out of that trance and a refreshing glass of wine infused my soul. The cocktails in a jar were very interesting, ready mixed Pina Coladas, I bought a few of those and can’t wait to try them out!
