Shaped like a bunny rabbit, this pavilion hopes to send a message of affability and openness. As a major tourist destination for those looking to get wild in the world’s largest casinos or for those seeking relaxation in its island beauty, the architect, Carlos Marreiros, aims to highlight the diverse, friendly nature. Marreiros himself, a Macau-born Portuguese, is a prime example of his focus. He chose a rabbit lantern as a symbol of friendliness, tradition (lanterns are a favorite pastime on the island) and green modernity (think recyclable glass, steel and solar panels).

Surprised or disappointed? I would love it, LOVE IT if there was a Doraemon Pavillion.

.... I'm surprised Japan didn't pull out any Hello Kitty or Doraemon themed pavillion...

"No way, that thing is awesome. It's a giant pull-toy! It's so perfect, it IS Expo."

A completely functionless waste of space?

It is pretty cute though!

It reminds me of one of these cheesy Japanese animation series with big robots.

This is, beyond any doubt, one of the ugliest pieces of architecture I've ever seen.
