Upon first glance, this pavilion, designed by Taipei 101 architect C.Y. Lee, appears to be a transparent cube housing a 12‐meter‐wide globe in its center, but, of course, there is symbolic meaning behind the design. The cube shape represents a lantern named Kong Ming, a popular sign of health and happiness in traditional Taiwanese culture. The globe doubles as a viewing area for a movie inside, while reflecting images projected on the globe on the water below it. The ball floats over a pool of water transported from Sun Moon Lake. The façade of the pavilion resembles the famous mountainous regions of Taiwan. In addition to this pavilion, Taiwan boasts two exhibits, on urban wireless connection and recycling, in the Urban Best Practices Area.

Not an easy pavilion to go in...as the way it is designed for public allow only a small amount of people inside.

I like the outside, it is futurist and modern…

Inside, you are in a group of 40 people, with a guide. This is really nice to feel back to human management (comparing to many pavilions in which we are more human cattle. Though if all pavilion were only welcoming such a small amount of people, we would be queuing for days) and relax from large amount people pressure. We are guided to a place to make an electronic wish going the sky; this is an original way to mix tradition and modernity, it was fun. Then we are inviting to a tea party, listen to some traditional music (with a sexy woman in skirt…guess this is again the mix between tradition and modernity but this is not a critic, as I love antagonism ), we are showed the way to do tea in taiwan, offer a little gift. The hosts are very welcoming, smiling.
