The bespoke menu for Shanghai has taken our signature long drinks straight from London to our Chinese clients, including the Kumquat Caipirinha, Lemongrass Wokka and the 007 Martini. The drinks are accompanied by a tapas menu with dishes served on wooden platters perfect for sharing and enjoying in our stylish and contemporary lounge bar. Level 4 – glo Rooftop BBQ is where you’ll enjoy food from our hickory Oak burning smoke pit while taking in the views across the city skyline. The unique smoke pit is used for glo London’s special slow-cooked chicken and ribs served up with homemade BBQ sauce. The open-air lush terrace boasts great vistas across Shanghai and is the perfect way to enjoy the class and sophistication of London, in the heart of the French Concession. glolondon: UK based glo London opens flagship store in Shanghai

United Kingdom based glo London will open its flagship store in Shanghai on Thursday June 2, 2011. Located in the fashionable French Concession area, the restaurant is set to bring the cosmopolitan taste of London to China and aims to set a new standard for Western cuisine.

To celebrate this exciting launch, glo London, will be giving our first 100 customers one of our signature Mojito cocktails to enjoy with their meal.

glo London first opened in the UK capital in 2003 with the subsequent restaurant brand opening in Reading, West Hampstead and Walton-on-Thames shortly after. Building upon an award-winning combination of international cuisine and world-renowned cocktails, glo London strives to deliver best-in-class quality, value and taste. Lead by Group General Manager Gavin White, our London team has gone to considerable lengths to bring the same quality food and stylish surroundings, both of which are synonymous with the name glo in the UK, to its new Shanghai branch.

Gavin White, himself one of London’s finest hospitality professionals, began his career training at the world famous Savoy Hotel. His team, now based in Shanghai, was flown in direct from the UK’s capital to ensure the authenticity, consistency and true original taste of glo London is brought to Shanghai’s cosmopolitan dining scene.

glo London’s flagship site in China is a food and drinks destination, with each of glo’s four concepts given their own home across one of the venue’s four floors.

Level 1 – glo Bakery Cafe is open daily from 7am serving freshly-baked breads, croissants and pastries as well as juices, smoothies and all you need to collect breakfast on the go. Uniquely we roast our own fresh coffee from specially selected fine imported beans, blended on site by glo London’s very own coffee master. For those taking their day more slowly, relax and enjoy our light snacks including London pies, gourmet pizzas and soups served in fresh bread bowls. On weekends you will be able to have the ultimate London breakfast, which has glo’s modern twist on such a UK classic meal. Level 2 – glo Gastro Grill is a meat-lover’s paradise. Our resident executive chef, who has run glo’s UK kitchens, has prepared an amazing menu of choice-cut meats. As he cooks these in our showcase open kitchen, guests will see him at work as they relax in our stylish and comfortable restaurant. The London team has endeavoured to bring the same original taste of our famous UK dishes direct to our new Shanghai guests. With grilled steaks, cosmopolitan Pizzas and glo London’s famous International favourites, each dish is uniquely presented, with our focus on flavour and taste. Every weekend, the Gastro Grill features glo London’s traditional Sunday Carvery of slow-roasted joints, freshly prepared vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, sauces and gravies, topped off with classic desserts like sticky toffee pudding and jam roly-poly with custard.
